With so much bad being reported on the news these days, it always makes me happy to see a news report that shows people doing the right thing.
I was watching Insider Edition a few weeks ago and they reported on a story of a High School football team from Myrtle Beach, SC that was playing in a playoff game. They were winning 64 to 10 and with only a few seconds to go they allowed a member of the opposing team, Chip Mullen, to run 75 yards and score a touchdown.
Chip has Down Syndrome and it was his final game for Hilton Head High School. They wanted him to have a special moment that he could remember for the rest of his life. Chip got the ball and a teammate ran with him down the field. No one tried to tackle him and both teams met him in the end zone to congratulate him.
The final score was Myrtle Beach HS - 64, Hilton Head HS – 16. As Insider Edition said, “…in the big picture, both teams were victorious.”
